The story

Across the Atlantic traces the overlooked relationship between Liverpool and Ghana, from the city’s role in the transatlantic slave trade to the vibrant Ghanaian community that exists there today. Through conversations, archives, personal stories and music, this film explores how history can echo throughout generations, shaping cultural memory, identity and belonging in a modern Liverpool. By contrasting such a painful colonial past with present day expressions of Ghanaian heritage, this documentary is a reflection on resilience and connection, what it means to exist between cultures.
